Today, being the 9th day of the month and only one day to the love of my life's 79th birthday, exactly one week until my own birthday on the 15th and a couple days until we go to see my daughter for a 'staycation' weekend, that has gotten changed into a wedding dress work weekend, gives me pause to reflect on the good fortune I have at being this age and in good health as is my love. We do have our aches and pains and occasionally beg off of an activity because of age related tiredness but for the most part can hold our own.
Here is a poem I wrote for us one day 4 years ago...Wow, sure does not feel that long ago but the feelings are still there...
FOREVER
she stumbles
fingers touch
he supports
As we walk together hand in hand
thoughts turn to our wedding band
given one day so many years ago.
How much we didn't know.
As we walk together hand in hand
supporting each other when we stand.
Little did we know it would come to this
on that day of marital bliss.
As we walk together hand in hand
time passing by like grains of sand.
In silent harmony our thoughts blend
knowing we are with a friend.

I worked on some art today but it is still a WIP (work in progress). I am making 12 prayer flags to fulfill the challenge we have in my Altered Minds art group to create a piece of art from a word prompt. I am not entirely happy with what I did but it is what it is. These are made of cloth, going to hang outside after the party in December and will not last long in the harsh Florida sunshine. Therefore minimal time was spent on them..But I will like having them hang around my outdoor studio until they rot away. I have to finish these two and then do two more and the 12 will be finished.
But I did relax and work on this Zentangle. It is called road trip since that is what is on my mind right now with the up coming trip to visit my daughter and other family that lives near by.
I also see a puffed up crowing rooster in this Zentangle so perhaps it is a rooster on a road trip...
Love, Love, Love your poem and the prayer flags. This post makes my heart smile :)
ReplyDeleteGosh Darlene! Are you in or around the same age range as your husband? The big 79th birthday! Not yet 80! You always seem my age (55) or younger...it is hard to believe that you are in your 70s and move at such a rapid pace! Your poem brings tears to my eyes. I have been needing my hubby's helping hand recently because of a foot problem that makes me unsteady on my right foot. Our "fingers touch"! And there is "support."
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are happy and satisfied with your life. Talking about numbers...it is great to see that this kind of blogging has caused you to go over the 2,000 hit mark! Congratulations!
