C4 ward BLOGATHON March, Day 5

 Ecstasy in the Studio

I have been journaling from a book called "Mapping the Intelligence of Artistic Work" and this is one of the topics I recently wrote about. I found it really helpful for me. Bring to life the dynamics of your studio. What gives you satisfaction in the studio? What are you currently exploring there? Create a "wish list" for your work. What studio goals would allow for ecstasy?

I have not read this particular book that is listed in the above prompt so again I will just wing it. I've been doing a lot of that with this blogathon. So now...What brings me ecstasy in my studio..

‎ ...Webster describes ecstasy as 1. a state of very great happiness :
2. extreme delight where as Wikipedia has this description; a trance or trance-like state in which a person transcends normal consciousness...So for me I will go with Webster since I have never been in a trance like state.

I am fortunate to have 4 areas to call my studios. Here is my studio or "project room" as my husband calls it, where I do most of my art, computer work and reading...

The window in my 'project room/studio opens on to my garden with a changing view all year long depending on the season.

I also have a garagio and a redneck studio. Here is my redneck studio where I work on things made of concrete etc...

The garagio is used when it is crappy weather...or my friends and I have an art retreat.. I also have to share it with my husband and my car. We both have our separate side and next winter I will have a proper heater out there so it is usable all year...

Now what gives me the greatest pleasure is to discover a new untried project/technique or completing a project of which I have started. My inspiration comes from visuals or ideas in my dreams...right now I just want to finish a sewing project and get it out of my 'space' to make room for a new one. I don't know that I have a wish list unless it would be an aide to help me keep order out of chaos when I am working but that will not work since I am very protective and selfish of my studios... Even my husband respects that and Marshal helps me keep my privacy by barking at Bob every time he comes in..

See how he protects my bed pillows

  2. Love that you move around in different spaces rather than being locked into one space. Change can be stimulating. And the term garagio makes me smile. I work in 3 different spaces too but one of them is two hours away. Finding the right space for the different kinds of work is important. Lovely garden space you have.

  3. You've got it covered. Organized and wanting to be MORE organized. I look at those pictures and first thing I think is organized. It's something I notice in awe, because I am definitely not. Fabulous good dog.

    1. Oh Ruth, you always say such encouraging words to me...wish I could do a little shaking up by you when you do the dances and other fun activities...I have decided that no matter how much space we have it is never enough...we fill what we have to over flowing then look for more to fill...
