Today was the first day in a while I have had time to do any creating of any kind other then cooking, cleaning and organizing...both of which take some creative ingeniousness in my house...I love to cook but do not like to figure out what to cook. I love to sew but get frustrated when I can't find things I know I have so end up cleaning up and organizing a bit which is what happened today.
I made this top a while back which needed buttons so spent some time looking through my well stocked button box for just the right buttons. Some of my buttons date back to my mother who gave me her well stocked button tin shortly after I got married. We have been married 50+ years so they are pretty old as is the box which is fruit cake tin. What else. I could not find 5 of one kind that I liked so decided to do a design variation and use 2 different ones...Here is what I finally came up with...These are not sewn on yet but are laying on scrap fabric to see how they look and to get another opinion from my daughter Deb, who has sewing skills and good taste and is not afraid to venture into the unknown with me. Between the two of us we decided it would be a fun way of doing it. Tomorrow the buttonholes get done, then the buttons will be sewed on and the jacket will be ready to wear. The color does not show up true in the picture but they look great up close and personal.
Then came dinner. Having an abundance of peppers and mushrooms and wanting to not freeze all of them I decided to oven roast some of them with the Italian sausage I bought at the German butcher shop. They are roasting now with some olive oil, oregano and lots of garlic buds for flavor. A green salad will be added and dinner is served....Bon Appetit' to us!
While dinner cooked I put together this little book made of zippered pouches that I found laying around gathering dust. I just inserted them into a loose leaf notebook and can now be used for organizing and carrying either art supplies or sewing gadgets. I think for now I will use this one for sewing gadgets. I may trim the notebook cover later after I decide for sure if it is what I want to use it for. It will be handy for carrying supplies and gadgets to sewing classes or art classes. All it needs now is a strap for carrying it...That will come next.
